Unleashed

Band - Unleashed
Genre - Death Metal
Country - Kungsängen, Sweden
Web - http://www.myspace.com/unleashed

Current line-up :
Johnny Hedlund - Bass, Vocals (Nihilist (Swe))
Fredrik Folkare - Lead Guitar (Siebenbürgen, Incardine, Scudiero)
Tomas Måsgard - Rhythm Guitar (Julie Laughs Nomore, Hasty Death)
Anders Schultz - Drums

Unleashed is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1989 by bassist Johnny Hedlund after he left Nihilist for personal reasons. The band was one of the first death metal groups to write songs about history and Scandinavian culture instead of the violent and negative lyrics that are common in the genre.

In 1991, the band released their debut studio album, Where No Life Dwells, and toured with Morbid Angel in Europe and United States.

In 1992, Unleashed released their second studio album, Shadows in the Deep, including a cover version of Venom’s Countess Bathory. Their next studio albums were Across the Open Sea in 1993 and Victory in 1995, the latter being the last album which guitarist Fredrik Lindgren played on. Lindgren focused on playing punk rock, and Unleashed replaced him with Fredrik Folkare, who played guitar on the fifth Unleashed studio album Warrior in 1997.

The band went on hiatus, after 7–8 years of recording and touring. They were concentrating on life outside the music business, their musical side projects, and studying. After a reissue of the band’s classics in 2002, the band released a new album called Hell’s Unleashed in 2002, and they began to tour once again. This was also the same year Hedlund had to deal with allegations of having Nazi sympathies. It seemed that Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters wanted to approach Johnny Hedlund to contribute lead vocals to one of the songs for his Probot metal project, but the album producer, Matt Sweeney, discouraged him from doing so because of the supposed Nazi sympathies of Hedlund.[1]. Hedlund quickly branded these accusations as false and stated, Unleashed praises nature, beast and man. Man…regardless of background, place of birth or color of the skin.

In 2004, Unleashed released their seventh studio album, Sworn Allegiance. In October 2006, the band released their eighth studio album, Midvinterblot. Unleashed toured Europe in November 2006 as part of the Masters of Death tour, with Grave, Dismember, and Entombed. On February and March 2007 they headlined a North American tour with Krisiun and Belphegor. June 2008 saw the release of their ninth studio album entitled Hammer Battalion.

Band was formed in Kungsängen.

Current line-up is: Johnny Hedlund (bass, vocals), Fredrik Folkare (lead guitars, ex-Siebenbürgen), Thomas Olsson (rhythm guitars, former Julie Laughs Nomore member) and Anders Schultz (drums).

Yattering

Band - Yattering
Genre - Technical Brutal Death Metal
Country - Poland (Gdañsk)
Web - http://www.myspace.com/yatteringband

Last known line-up :
Marcin "Svierszcz" wierczyñski - Bass, vocals (Nyia, S.A.Inc.)
Marek "Hudy" Chudzikiewicz - Guitar
Mariusz "Trufel" Domaradzki - Guitar (Azarath, Shadows Land, Masachist)

Polish YATTERING originally formed in 1991, with the current line-up coalescing in 1996. Comprised of Svierszcz (bass & vocals), Hudy (guitar) and Zabek (drums), YATTERING wrote and recorded their first two demo cassettes, Promo 96 and The Sick Society, establishing YATTERING as a young, up-and-coming band forging insanely technical and brutal death metal. YATTERING’s third demo was comprised of two tracks, one of which ended up on the legendary Thrash`EmAll magazine’s “Blood to Come” sampler, providing needed exposure for the band.

Performances at numerous concerts and festivals contributed to the band`s growing reputation as one of the best live acts in Poland. In January 1998, YATTERING entered Selani studios and began work with producer Andy Bomba (Vader, Christ Agony, Behemoth) on their debut album Human`s Pain, subsequently released through Moonlight Productions. The album turned out to be the best Polish debut of 1998 and saw the band topping many reader and writer polls. Word of YATTERING`s sound started to emanate abroad, establishing the band as Poland’s “next candidates” to succeed internationally after Vader. In September 1998, the band recorded the Exterminate EP, which contained blistering covers of Brutal Truth’s classic Ill Neglect and Slayer’s Ditto Head.

Following the release of the debut, YATTERING made numerous live appearances, including tours with Devilyn, Krabathor and Count de Nocte. Such intense live activity created a need for another guitar player and brought Thrufel into the fold. The beginning of 1999 marked certain conflicts with Moonlight Productions, which eventually forced YATTERING to re-align and sign with Massive management, home to Vader, Christ Agony, DECAPITATED and others.

Soon after, YATTERING signed with France’s Season of Mist label, who released the band`s second album, the dizzying Murder`s Concept. Soon after the release of the record, the band`s drummer, Zabek, filled in as a temporary replacement for Vader`s Docent, who was unable to perform during their summer gigs and the European tour with NILE, Six feet under, Cryptopsy, Enslaved and ThyryfhIng. YATTERING played two prestigious gigs together with Marduk and Angel Corpse in November `99.

Relapse Records, after hearing the magnitude of YATTERING’s compositions, approached the band and asked them to contribute 3 of their older demo tracks for an Underground Series release entitled Polish Assault, which also featured crushing demos from Polish acts LOST SOUL, DECAPITATED and DAMNABLE. Polish Assault was released simultaneously with the Relapse version of Murder`s Concept in Novemember 2000.

Poland’s YATTERING are the epitome of the young, fast-rising new breed of technical death metal. Murder’s Concept, the band’s second full-length, is radically brutal without cessation and sees YATTERING contriving its musical assassinations with an obtuse, intricate mixture of violence and brilliance. YATTERING’s innate, intrinsic power discharges like a fragmenting grenade, as scalding guitar-work and battering drumming incessantly stab and defile those daring enough to confront the band’s audio-homicide. The concept of YATTERING’s murder is fine butchery, a small guide on how to musically skin a human being properly and let it live as long as possible.

A rising band from North Carolina (USA), Domination Through Impurity appeared in early 2004 in the form of the duo of vocalist/guitarist Joe Payne and drummer Jordan Varela, both of which are also members of Lust of Decay. Inspired by such names like Meshuggah and Necrophagist, they intended forging a new sound, something in the field of technical death metal. It took them not much time to record and release through Comatose Music their first album entitled Essence Of Brutality. All trademarks of tech-death are undeniably present here, and so DTI’s future seems to be bright, if guys aren’t going to let up.

P.S. Bassist Dan Royer joined the band after the first release. All bass tracks were done by Joe Payne.

Decrepit Birth

Band - Decrepit Birth
Genre - Technical Brutal Death Metal
Country - Santa Cruz, California, USA
Web - http://www.myspace.com/decrepitbirth

Band Members :
Bill Robinson - Vocals
Matt Sotelo - Guitar, vocals
Dan Eggers - Guitar
Joel Horner - Bass
KC Howard - Drums

Decrepit Birth was formed in 2001 by Matt Sotelo - guitars, Bill Robinson - vocals, and Derek Boyer – bass. Originally the intention was to play devastating, brutal, technical death metal, mixed with influences from the early 1990’s Florida death metal scene. Since Matt and Derek had at one time both played in Southern California band, DEPRECATED, it was easy for the two of them to begin collaborating on material for the first full length Decrepit Birth album “…And Time Begins”.

In Fall of 2002, with the help of friend Tim Yeung on session drums, they entered Legion Studios to begin recording. Almost a year later “…And Time Begins” was released on Unique Leader Records, artwork by Dan Seagrave. The album had production issues but still managed to forge a very solid fan base in the death metal scene. The band went through a dry period of playing no shows due to the lack of a drummer. Bassist Derek Boyer got the chance of a lifetime and was offered a full time position with death metal legends SUFFOCATION. That left Decrepit Birth with out a drummer or bassist.

During 2004, bassist Risha Eryavec stepped in and not long after that, drummer KC Howard of ODIOUS MORTEM officially joined the band as well. For the next couple years the new lineup played many shows, fests and one North American tour. In 2007 the band took a break and began writing full time for the new album. They went through some lineup changes and also dealt with personal issues related to a past member. This conflicted the band, and brought about a spiritual overhaul. The result was a change in direction and sound. The new music was becoming influenced by melodic and progressive compositions. The sound was more mature and catchy, while still maintaining the brutality Decrepit Birth is known for.

In Spring of 2007 Decrepit Birth entered Castle Ultimate Studios with engineer Zack Ohren to begin recording for the sophomore album. In January 2008 the highly anticipated album “Diminishing Between Worlds” was released again through Unique Leader Records. During that same month of January, Decrepit Birth embarked upon their biggest tour yet, opening for THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THREE INCHES OF BLOOD, and HATE ETERNAL. With the addition of a second guitarist, Dan Eggers and bassist, Joel Horner(both of ODIOUS MORTEM) to replace Risha so he could focus on his family and job, the brand new line up played night after night of sold out shows through out the United States. Now with a new album freshly released, Decrepit Birth was able to catch the attention of Nuclear Blast Records, which was a label the band really wanted to work with for years. After negotiations, they happily signed on with Nuclear Blast in Spring of 2008. The band is currently touring in support of the new album and is also writing new music, which can only be described as an “evolved version of what we did on Diminishing Between Worlds”.

Lividity

Artist - Lividity
Genre - Brutal Deathmetal / Grindcore
Country - Illinois, USA
Web - http://www.myspace.com/lividity

Band Members :
DAVE KIBLER - guitar/b.vocals
VON YOUNG - guitar/l.vocals
GARRETT SCANLAN - drums
JAKE LAHNIERS - bass/b.vocals

Lividity began as a 1 man project in 1993 with Dave, victimizing the underground with his first 3 song promo ‘94 recorded on a Yamaha 4 track recorder and a drum machine containing 3 songs… Altar Pieces, Mortal Impalement, and Spewing Chunks!! The ideas were dark and dismal, yet heavy and torturous!! As you will hear influences taken from such great bands as Hypocrisy, Bloodfeast, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Paralysis, Dismember, Suffocation, etc… molded into what will become Lividity!! Tommy Davis joined in on drums and vocals, adding depth to the mix and recording a rehearsal demo titled, “Ritual Of Mortal Impalement” ‘95 with 9 songs like Graveyard Delicacy, The Process Of Disembowelment, Food, etc… 6 of these tunes were released on the split cassette from Illinois’ murder junkies, Morgue Fetus in ‘95!! After the split of Illinois’ death squad, Desecration, we joined forces with Matt (guitar / backing vocals) and Aaron (bass / vocals) Summer of ‘95! Went to Private Studios (IL) and recorded the 4 song demo, “Rejoice In Morbidity” ‘96 through Immortal Records (Pol.)! Containing the classic cuts of Orifice Reconstruction, Fetal Scabs, Tampered Flesh, and Rectal Wench… Aaron had left the band and we hired Mike Smith on bass from thrashers Avatar (IL), and Matt moved to vocals!! We went to Sinewave Studios (IL) and recorded the 11 song CD, “Fetish For The Sick” ‘97 through Ablated Records (OH)! This sparked off such twisted anthems as Pussy Lover, Lacerations Of An
Unclean Twat, and My Cock It Bleeds as well as rerecorded versions of
“R.O.M.I. ” demo songs!! Tommy had left the band and we hired Nick Null, Nov. ‘97… While we were writing music, we released a Live CD titled “Show Us Your Tits” ‘99 through United Guttural Records (IL) with bonus “R.I.M.” demo at the end plus on cassette format through D.I.Y. label Maniacal Brutality Prod. in Latvia (Europe) titled, “Anal Action Live” ‘99!! We went back to Private Studios (IL) and recorded a 9 song CD titled “The Age Of Clitoral Decay” ‘00 through United Guttural Records again! Also was licensed to Erebos Productions (Slk) on CD, cassette, and t-shirts in September 2000… licensed to Extreme Souls Productions (Indonesia) on cassette May 2001… bought / licensed with Apidocere Records (Fra) August 2001… Lividity used 3 of the songs to complete the split 7” with German gore whores, Profanity… released through Cudgel Agency (Ger) February 2000!!!

June 1999, the Europe nation welcomed Lividity as we set off to play 3
countries with fellow demons, Fleshless (Cz) and Sanatorium (Slk) w/ special supports Godless Truth (Cz), Perversist (Cz), Intervalle Bizzare (Cz), Appaling Spawn (Cz), Amorph Pneuma (Ger), Demented Retarded (Cz), 4 Seats 4 Invalides (Cz), Monolith (A), Grind 6.4 (Cz) amongst others!! We trudged through Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia…

On a sad and tragic note… we have had the opportunity to excel and write some of the best music we could conjure up from our blackened souls with the creative help from Nick Null!! His life was taken from us July 2000 with a fatal heart attack and didn’t recover, so our thoughts and love are with Nick everyday and his family!!

James Whitehurst started slamming the skins for us April 2001 and is a machine and helped solidify this unit… We entered Mercenary Digital Studio (IL) in March 2002 to create a landmark release! “…’Til Only The Sick Remain” hit the streets August 2002 through Morbid Records (Ger)!! Contains such songs as Coated With My Semen, Snack Size Tits, T.L.C. (Tight ‘Lil Cunt), The Second Cumming, Fetal Scabs, Unrelenting Homicidal Obsession, A Woman’s Place Is On My Face, Conception Through Ingestion, and more!! Lividity has signed a 2 album deal with German label, Morbid Records!! We have been grateful for the support Carsten and the rest of the Morbid crew has given the Lividity camp and appreciate their hard work ethic and longevity of their company!! Morbid Rec. has been very supportive to Lividity for the past few years and makes this deal a special one!!

Lividity set out to do the unthinkable in March 2003, do a full fledged 4 week headlining tour through Europe!! Was a smash hit while on the road with metal comrades Master (Us), Mastic Scum(A), and Damnable(Pol)! Trudged through such countries as Germany, Holland, France, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Belgium! This was a positive mind-set for the band due to there was a world war going on and we needed music and friends to keep our spirits up!! Thanks to Bruchstein Records and Morbid Records for the great adventure!

Aaron has departed ways again and we wish him the best, so we have hired Chris Campbell on bass. We are working hard to create some crushing tunes that will be more mature in structure yet unrelentless brutality in true Lividity fasion!! Some song titles are Raped For Rent, Deviant Pleasures, An Exhibition In Carnage, Bound In Skin, No Time For Lube, and title track… Used, Abused And Left For Dead!! Hope to have this monu”metal” experience out by late 2005!!

The re-issue of 1997’s “Fetish For The Sick” has been unleashed once again at the Central Illinois Metalfest 2004 in August, through Comatose Music (Usa) and contains an additional 45 minutes of bonus live trax taken from the European Tour 2003 while in Germany!! Relive the classick that brought you Lacerations Of An Unclean Twat, Graveyard Delicacy, Brains For Lubrication, Rectal Wench, My Cock It Bleeds, and the anthem Pussy Lover!!

With the loss of James Whitehurst and the addition of Jordan Varela (aka The Violator) on drums plus the latest transformation of Matt Bishops’ departure and the hiring of Von Young (Deaden). The next orgasmic onslaught, “Used, Abused And Left For Dead” is under way again and there are 12 songs, goal is to have it out early Spring 2006 and continue our quest for world domination!! A definite improvement all around the board for the band… I think we will surprise a few of you!! You will hear Jordan’s work on the other killer acts he plays in, Lust Of Decay, Domination Through Impurity, and Debodified!!!

Cum support the band that supports the scene!!!!!!!!!

Mental Demise is a brutal death metal band from Ukraine. They formed in May of 1995, by Alexander ‘Fester’ (Guitar/vocals) and Andrey (Guitar/Vocals). The style of the band can be characterized nowadays as an aggressive speedy Florida wave death metal.

In 1997, the band released their first rehearsal demo, entitled ”Utopia Of Existence”. The second studio demo ”Psycho-Penetration” was self released and recorded in February of 1998. Material included 9 songs of intense brutal death/grind, with conceptual psychological lyrics. The demo was released in a cassette format by Ukrainian label Moon records. Later “Psycho-Penetration” has experienced four reissues.

In March of 1998 the band performed 25 shows in various cities of the Eastern Ukraine in the support of ”Psycho-Penetration”. In spring of 2000, they headed for ‘Vaginal suckers’ studio to record a new 3-song material called ”Credo Quia Absurdum…?”. In 2001 D.A.C. Productions label released ”Credo Quia Absurdum…?” as a split-CD with ukrainian band Entrails Putrefaction. In November of 2001 this was followed by the mini-tour in Buelorussia.

Later, in 2005, the band makes a self-record of the ”Disgraceful Sores”, which was immediately released by two labels - Belorussian Moral Isanity and American Sevared Records. The album received a good circulation in CIS as well as abroad.

In 2007, a release of a compliation of earlier works of the band was released called ”Psycho-Penetration / Credo Quia Absurdum…?” which included the early demos of the band’s discography.

The band has toured with such bands as Necrophagist, Vital Remains,Pungent Stench, Parricide, Mincing Fury, Imperial Foeticide and Epitome.

Ideas had been composed in 2003 by guitarist Nick Ochs to start a project which would in the future become Cephalotripsy. Within two and a half years, drummer Kyle Heart,(Dark Lay Still), joined. Producing unheard of inhuman drum abilities, we were off to compose material with newly joined bassist Rah(skelator). Due to the departure of Rah for relocating purposes as well as Kyle for similiar reasons, a search was conducted once again for the next year and a half. At the introduction of Forrest Stedt(Condemned) at a show, the need of a drummer was brought about and he agreed to tryout. Drummer Forrest Stedt and Vocalist Angel Ochoa(Condemned) pushed themselves and were ripping through material days on end. Upon the creation of 3 songs: Aesthetic Upholstery of Molested Dead Flesh, Embryonic Gastronomy and Sanguinary Misogynistic Execration, a three song demo was recorded.

Suffocation

Band - Suffocation
Genre - Brutal Death Metal / Technical
Country - New York, United States
Web - http://www.myspace.com/suffocation

Band Members :
Frank Mullen - Vocals
Terrance Hobbs - Guitar
Guy Marchais - Guitar
Derek Boyer - Bass
Mike Smith - Drums

Suffocation, one of the earliest American death metal bands, arranged heavy, uniquely rhythmic, riffs into complex, Jazz-influenced song structures to create a sub-genre of the form often termed “brutal” death metal - also known by many as “New York Death Metal,” or “nydm” for short. Others in this form include Immolation, Incantation, Skinless, and Morpheus Descends.

The band formed in 1990 and has since released many highly-regarded recordings on several labels, including the former powerhouse of the genre, Roadrunner. Their debut, Effigy of the Forgotten, is considered a classic by most, topping the charts of many fans’ “all-time favorites” lists. Also worth noting is their debut EP, Human Waste, which was the first official release on relapse records in 1991.

The band went through a few member changes before briefly disbanding after their release, Despise the Sun, only to re-emerge in 2004 with the album, Souls to Deny. A video for the song, Surgery of Impalement, has been featured on such outlets as Headbanger’s Ball and Uranium.

In 2006, They released the self-entitled, Suffocation on Relapse. A videoclip was made for the song, Abomination Reborn. The song and (most of) the band was featured in a commercial for, appropriately enough, The History Channel’s series, Dark Ages.

In 2007, the band left Relapse Records. Their next album, Blood Oath, will be released through Nuclear Blast Records, with whom the band signed in September, 2008. There is a rumored concert DVD in the works, but contractual disputes and alleged theft of the source material have delayed the project.

Bloodbath

Band - Bloodbath
Genre - Deathmetal
Country - Estocolmo, Sweden
Web - http://www.myspace.com/bloodbathband

Band Members :
Mikael Akerfeldt - Vocals
Anders 'Blakkheim' Nystrom - Guitar
Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson - Guitar
Jonas Renkse - Bass
Martin 'Axe' Axenrot - Drums

Bloodbath formed in 1998 when, one evening, friends Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) - Vocals, Anders Nyström (Katatonia) - Guitars, Jonas Renkse (Katatonia) - Bass, Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity) – Drums, thought it would be good to thrash out some classic death metal in the style of early Entombed, mixed with some of the US Florida death metal scene bands. Quite simply, Bloodbath was born out of this shared admiration for quality death metal in the old style & the guys quickly realized that they could churn some ugly metal out to a pretty high standard. From this one session the Breeding Death EP was written; the songs naturally & spontaneously coming together, and subsequently released in 1999.

Upon releasing Breeding Death, Bloodbath described their style as "a tribute to the old-school death metal that reigned in the late '80s and onward." The response to the EP's three songs was tremendous. Metal Maniacs hailed it as "the collective effort of Sweden's most prolific and talented power hitting songsmiths… Finally, a super group has taken the idea of praising the glory years of death metal...and further, this super group has done the right thing by pooling its abundance of talent to form something new instead of falling victim to the stylistic trappings of the retro movement."

It was two years later that Bloodbath were ready to unleash their debut album upon the world, to be titled ‘Resurrection Through Carnage'. Speaking of the material, Mikael Åkerfeldt (who let loose his corrosive throat on the entire album) calls it, "ten tracks of the purest form of winter like death metal"; an album of old-school head banging bliss that recalls the glory days of Swedish savagery at the dawn of the '90s.
Featuring the same lineup as the EP, the album was greeted with much critical acclaim, quickly establishing Bloodbath as one of Scandinavia's top death metal acts of the time.

And the nightmare continued! Swedish Bloodbath, mostly wrongly referred to as just a retro project or all star outfit, got fiercely back on
the metal map with a new album. Very suitably entitled Nightmares Made Flesh (2004), Bloodbath were determined to prove all of those wrong who thought we were dealing with a short-lived and rather fun-orientated back-to-the-roots unity here. Åkerfeldt had recently opted to abandon the band's ranks due to his busy schedule. After intense research among befriended and likeminded musicians, Bloodbath could proudly announce their new line-up entries of vocalist Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) and drummer Martin "Axe" Axenrot (Opeth, Witchery) behind the kit as Swanö switched to guitar. This new musical set up added a lot of challenging variety and fresh intensity to Bloodbath's compositions (as well as the long-awaited ability for the band to finally play live shows), as easily witnessed on the featured 12 new tracks of Nightmares Made Flesh.

Recorded with producer Jens Bogren in Örebro, Sweden at Fascination Street (Katatonia, Opeth, Soilwork, Amon Amarth etc.), this striking album gathered the best elements of both the Swedish death metal old school as well as the magic brutality and technical edge of US-Style death metal, highlighted by Tägtgrens heaviest, most intimidating vocal delivery ever as well very organic, full-on pounding drumming by Axenrot, into an irresistible, breathtaking mixture which will leave no follower of brutal metal questioning Bloodbath's value and qualities.

Bloodbath revealed that their live debut, conducted by a revised cast of musicians, would be held at the 'Wacken Open Air' festival in Germany, August 2005. However, Peter Tägtgren was to back out, due to conflicting schedules, and the band announced Mike Åkerfeldt would make a brief return for the gig, which was a resounding success. One year after the Wacken gig, however, the band decided to part ways with Dan Swanö and replaced him with Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson (21 Lucifers, Genocrush Ferox).

Peaceville Records had become increasingly impressed by the band & a deal was swiftly struck. The first offering was a relentless slab of pure death metal mastery in the shape of the EP ‘Unblessing the Purity' in March 2008, released initially to a limited quantity online only. Even with such a low key release the return of Bloodbath was met with huge acclaim. Unknown to almost everybody, even the band's label, was the surprise vocalist – the return of Mikael Akerfeldt with his unmistakable & characteristic death-growl lending the music a perfect edge.

The previous Wacken show from 2005 had also been filmed as a rare document of the band live & was released on Peaceville Records as a CD/DVD set in 2008. Entitled ‘The Wacken Carnage', the cover artwork was a pure horror movie inspired masterpiece once more from Travis Smith, perfectly reflecting the coldness & brutality of the band.

While fans worldwide were chewing on the flesh of ‘Unblessing the Purity' & the savagery of ‘The Wacken Carnage', the band had been busy composing for their next full-length album, which was recorded Spring-mid 2008 at Park Studio Stockholm, & then at Ghost Ward studios with David Castillo. Shortly after, Bloodbath made a return to the live setting with a couple of appearances on the festival circuit, at Party.San in Germany & Pellavarock, Finland, showing the band as a true force to be reckoned with in extreme metal circles.

Due for an October 6th release, & retaining the same line-up as the EP, Bloodbath prepare to propel death metal into a whole new darker dimension with ‘The Fathomless Mastery'.
